Maryland Medicare Options is proud to be authorized to sell Alterwood Medicare Advantage Plans which started in 2022. New improved offerings from Alterwood will launch in January of 2024. Alterwood offers several different Part C plans available in most counties throughout Maryland, including the eastern shore. This is great news for seniors and gives residents of Maryland a few more options for their senior health care coverage.
In a sneak peak of plan benefits, it looks as though these plans will be extremely competitive with the current offerings in the state of Maryland and have similar monthly premiums to those now available. With several different plans being offered, Alterwood Medicare Advantage has something for everyone and should not be overlooked simply because they're a new company (their founders have decades of Medicare experience).
I was excited to see that their plans do offer more robust benefits compared to CareFirst or Johns Hopkins, and in my experience, newer plans tend to add additional benefits and lower co-payments as they mature into an established plan option. This means as the plan becomes more popular, Alterwood Medicare Advantage Plans will tend to offer a great value over the coming years compared to other Part C Plan choices in Maryland.
Like all Medicare Advantage plans, Alterwood Advantage plans has a comprehensive listing of their benefits known as a Summary of Benefits, which was posted on October 1st, 2023 for the 2024 plan year. They will also be working towards a CMS Star Rating which cannot be determined at this time because the plan is so new. Their Part C plans will also have the same rules and regulations as found with all of their competitors.
