How Maryland senior health brokers, advisors and independent insurance agencies can help.

What are Maryland senior health advisors and brokers?

Maryland senior health advisors and brokers are independent Medicare professionals who help seniors navigate and select Medicare coverage options. Unlike insurance representatives who may work with a more limited selection of carriers or plans, Maryland senior health advisors and brokers can work with multiple insurance companies. We provide guidance on Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans, and Part D prescription drug coverage, helping you understand your options and choose coverage that fits your health needs and budget.

How are Maryland senior health advisors and brokers different from insurance agents?

Maryland senior health advisors and brokers are independent insurance representatives, which means we represent multiple insurance carriers rather than working for a single company. This independence allows us to compare plans across different insurers and recommend the coverage that makes the most sense for your specific situation. Some insurance agents may represent one company or a more limited selection of carriers and plans. Our goal is to help you compare your available options and find coverage that fits your needs.

What can Maryland senior health advisors and brokers help me with?

Maryland senior health advisors and brokers help with many aspects of Medicare planning. We explain the differences between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, compare Medicare Supplement plan options, discuss Part D prescription drug coverage and costs, guide you through enrollment deadlines and special enrollment periods, help you understand out-of-pocket costs and deductibles, answer questions about carrier terminations or plan changes, and help you evaluate coverage based on your doctors, medications, healthcare needs, and budget. In most cases, there is no additional cost to use our services because we are compensated by insurance carriers.

BOTTOM LINE:

Medicare "Advisors" are often the same as "Brokers." They're independent, usually self-employed insurance professionals that represent a variety of Medicare insurance carriers.

Medicare "Agents" can be either independent, or captive.  An independent agent is likely self-employed but may only represent one or two insurance carriers, limiting the choices of plan options for the senior.

If the agent is captive, this means they work for one single insurance carrier, and can only promote and sell products from one company, limiting your plan options.

ADVICE:

Ask your health insurance professional which companies they represent, and if they're able to sell you insurance products from multiple different companies.  Ask if they sell different types of plans:  Advantage?  Supplement?  Dental?

The more options a senior advisors / broker / agent can offer you, the better chance you have at finding the right insurance product at the best price possible.

Maryland Medicare Options provides its clients with 25+ insurance carrier options, utilizes experienced advisor / brokers, and we are 100% independent.  Medicare is all we do!
